FOUNDER
OF DOGS DESERVE BETTER RELEASES ART SERIES
CATALOGING JOURNEY TO ANIMAL AWARENESS
Tamira Thayne (fKA Tammy
Grimes) Launches Seven Pieces
in a Series Entitled "Little Girl
Looking";
Also Releases Seven Other Works of Animal and Environmental Art
Tammy
Grimes, founder of Dogs Deserve Better, has released a series of
art pieces entitled "Little Girl Looking". Using a combination
of images and words, Grimes documents her journey from that of a
girl who first does not see or care about the plight of the animals,
to an adult who now, even in the midst of pleasure, cannot forget
their pain.
Images
of Grimes daughter, Brynnan, abound as a representation of herself,
and she feels that even now she is often looking through the eyes
of a child. Photos of Grimes herself then and now appear, and are
weaved into settings and animal images that, while beautiful to
the eye, evoke thought and beseech the viewer to recognize the plight
of animals, especially the chained dog.
Grimes
has been working on the series for a year, and strives above all
else to strike a chord in the viewer with her honesty. "I'm
hoping that animal welfare advocates as well as those who love their
dogs--yet may not have given much thought to the dog chained next
door--will be touched by the art, and perhaps empowered to do something
for the animals in their neighborhoods."
The
Little Girl Looking theme spills over into her other art pieces,
as Grimes feels seeing through the eyes of a child enables a closer,
more open examination of our world. Four other pieces as well as
another series entitled "Ladies Prefer" are also available.
The "Ladies Prefer" Series focuses on environmental and
other animal issues which we face today.
Grimes
holds a B.A. in Visual Art and Design from the University of Maryland,
and a B.A. in Naturology from AIHT. She is currently pursuing a
Master's in Naturology from AIHT, as well as working as Executive
Director of Dogs Deserve Better. She remains to date unpaid for
her work with Dogs Deserve Better, and supports herself entirely
through freelance art and design.
